Am I missing anything? Why would you stomp on the shifter lever. I would guess, if there are a few of us doing this it would explain why some of us are having broken shifter linkage. I have my shifter adjusted so my boot just fits under it. I just lift slightly to up shift and push down smoothly to down shift. No need to stomp on it.
